UNESCO-ICHEI endeavours to provide a theoretical and operational basis for the digitalisation and AI application of higher education. UNESCO-ICHEI collaborates with higher education institutions and international organisations to conduct readiness analysis and regional studies, and independently conducts project-based research, drawing on successful experiences.
  • White Paper on Higher Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

     

    This White Paper attempts to explore the current approaches and directions for the effective application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in higher education teaching, and advocates that all stakeholders in higher education collaborate together to promote the proper use of the technology and the formulation of relevant policies. The White Paper is committed to providing a relatively comprehensive overview of topics related to AI and higher education, as well as the visions and outlooks of UNESCO-ICHEI and IIOE, to the institutions and educators within the IIOE partner network. It also presents specific solutions and possible action paths.
  • Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning

     

    This Report is jointly prepared by the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and the Institute of Education (IOE) of Tsinghua University, focusing on the digital transformation of teaching and learning. This report analyses the background, current situation and framework, and elaborates on the transformation content, characteristics, strategies and directions from six aspects, including institutions and majors. It aims to respond to the numerous challenges faced in the process of promoting the digital transformation of higher education, and provides relevant parties with ideas and methods for dealing with the digital transformation of teaching.

Finally, it proposes policy recommendations in terms of regulatory frameworks, infrastructure and other aspects, with the aim of promoting the digital transformation of higher education in Arab countries and enhancing the quality of education.

    This report centres on the digital transformation of higher education in Sub-Saharan Africa. It analyses its current situation, characteristics, and the challenges it faces, such as an imperfect regulatory framework and weak infrastructure. It enumerates best-practice cases from countries such as South Africa and Senegal, and proposes policy recommendations regarding regulatory frameworks, ICT infrastructure, and so on. The aim is to boost the digital transformation of higher education in this region and improve the quality and equity of education. 
  • The Real Birth Year of MOOCs, A new Perspective for Higher Education

     

    Global MOOC Conference sub-forum 3 was chaired and co-organized by UNESCO-ICHEI (Shenzhen, China) and Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). This report reviews the keynote speeches and case studies shared by participants in sub-forum 3, summarizes MOOC-related practices and online education strategies of different countries during the pandemic, and provides suggestions for the sharing of MOOC resources and global cooperation in higher education.
  • UNESCO-ICHEI: 2018-2019 Biennial Report

     

    The report summarises the significant progress of the Innovation Centre's various works during 2018 - 2019, reaffirms the four major functions of the Centre, and collates the Centre's global partnerships and the achievements of various projects. In the next stage, the Centre will draw on experiences and continue to promote the empowerment of teacher development and facilitate the digital transformation of higher education.
