HITSZ Delegation Visited UNESCO-ICHEI to Explore Education Cooperation
On 14 September, Prof. LI Bing, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ), led a delegation to the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI). The two sides exchanged views on the co-development of “AI + Discipline” and “AI + Industry” micro-certification programmes, ASEAN regional cooperation, international exchange and cooperation, and talent development, while exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
Prof. LI Bing, Vice President of HITSZ; Prof. WANG Xu, Director, Office of International Affairs; Prof. ZHAO Yi, Professor of HITSZ; and other representatives attended the meeting. UNESCO-ICHEI was represented by Deputy Directors Ms. BI Xiaohan and Mr. PAN Feng, together with office chiefs.

During the meeting, HITSZ shared its recent practices and experience in international exchange and cooperation, global competence development, and platform development, and expressed its intention to further deepen cooperation with UNESCO-ICHEI. By leveraging its strengths in academic disciplines, faculty expertise and talent development, HITSZ hopes to work with UNESCO-ICHEI to jointly carry out AI application training and capacity-building programmes for ASEAN countries, while further developing a regular cooperation mechanism.

UNESCO-ICHEI stated that it would leverage the IIOE platform, digital education resources and international partner network to strengthen collaboration between the two sides in the co-development of course resources, AI application training and regional cooperation in Southeast Asia. UNESCO-ICHEI also looks forward to connecting HITSZ's disciplinary strengths and high-quality faculty resources with IIOE micro-certification programmes and its international cooperation network, and to exploring further opportunities in the international sharing of quality educational resources, talent development, standard-setting and international exchange.

UNESCO-ICHEI and HITSZ have previously collaborated on course resource development, including the joint development of the course “AI Teaching Agents Empowering Higher Education”, which is scheduled to be launched on the IIOE platform later this year. Both sides stated that they would take this exchange as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and collaboration, fully leverage their respective strengths in academic and human resources, digital education platforms and international cooperation networks, and deepen cooperation in relevant areas. Together, they will explore new pathways for higher education innovation and international cooperation in the context of digital and AI-enabled transformation.
