Professor Paulina Pannen, Senior Expert at ICE Institute, reviewed the cooperation with UNESCO-ICHEI and shared its practical experience in the development and implementation of micro-certification programmes. She expressed her expectation that the two sides would deepen cooperation and further advance the implementation of the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" Micro-Certification Programme in Indonesia.

To advance programme implementation, UNESCO-ICHEI delegation met with the faculty team involved in localising the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" curriculum. They held in-depth discussions on implementation pathways, curriculum localisation strategies, faculty capacity building, practical teaching design, and alignment with qualifications frameworks. Taking into account Indonesia's higher education context and the characteristics of its cross-border e-commerce sector, the pilot will align the global curriculum with local educational conditions, industry practices, and talent needs. Localised case studies, practical assignments, and teaching resources will be developed to enhance the relevance and practical applicability of micro-certification courses.

UNESCO-ICHEI held discussions with Mr. Beny Bandanadjaja, Director of the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of The Republic of Indonesia, on topics including micro-certifications in higher education and faculty capacity building. Mr. SIT Fung introduced UNESCO-ICHEI's innovative practices in higher education and shared updates on the global pilot implementation of the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" Micro-Certification Programme. Mr. Beny Bandanadjaja recognised the value of micro-certifications in enhancing the capacity of higher education faculty and introduced relevant faculty capacity-building programmes in Indonesia, as well as developments in education cooperation between Indonesia and China, in relation to the implementation of micro-certifications in Indonesia. The two sides will continue in-depth discussions on relevant programmes.

Accompanied by the ICE Institute team, UNESCO-ICHEI visited cross-border e-commerce platforms, Alibaba.com and Lazada.  Discussions focused on deeper industry involvement in talent development through the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" Micro-Certification Programme, the sector's talent needs, and employment pathways for cross-border e-commerce professionals. UNESCO-ICHEI also visited cross-border e-commerce service provider Polibeli to learn about Indonesia's cross-border e-commerce ecosystem and the digital transformation and international expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises. These visits strengthened industry support for the pilot project and laid the groundwork for establishing a mechanism for academia–industry integration within the programme.

The visit advanced the pilot implementation of the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" Micro-Certification Programme in Indonesia, further clarified its implementation priorities, and facilitated exchanges with higher education authorities and industry partners. The pilot will help address local talent needs in cross-border e-commerce and related fields. As the programme progresses and the localised curriculum system is further developed, the pilot outcomes will support Indonesia's digital economy and create a solid foundation for the wider rollout of the "AI + Cross-Border E-Commerce" Micro-Certification Programme.
