UNESCO‑ICHEI and Xi'an Peihua University Deepen International Partnership

On 1 September 2026, UNESCO‑ICHEI and Xi'an Peihua University held a cooperation meeting at UNESCO‑ICHEI. Ms. BI Xiaohan and Mr. PAN Feng, Deputy Directors of UNESCO‑ICHEI, together with chiefs of offices, met with Ms. HAN Wei, President of Xi'an Peihua University, and Ms. WANG Peng, Director of the International Exchange Centre.

During the meeting, Xi'an Peihua University presented its nearly century‑long history, its application‑oriented talent development system, and its forward‑looking internationalization strategy. The university also highlighted its achievements in women's education, industry‑education integration, and international cooperation. With a partnership network spanning nearly one hundred universities worldwide, Peihua has developed a distinctive model for cultivating globally competent talents, demonstrating its strong foundation in educational openness and international collaboration.

UNESCO‑ICHEI introduced its strategic framework for advancing the digital transformation of higher education, leveraging the IIOE global partnership network and the IIOE open learning platform. Key initiatives include the development and localized implementation of IIOE "AI + Disciplines" and "AI + Industries" Micro‑certification programmes, regional high‑level policy dialogues, and capacity‑building programmes designed to enhance the digital and AI competencies of women professionals in higher education.

Both sides engaged in substantive discussions on strengthening teachers' digital and AI application competencies, jointly developing "AI + Disciplines/Industries" Micro‑certification programmes, advancing women's education, promoting industry‑university collaboration, and co‑building international exchange platforms. They reached an initial consensus on Xi'an Peihua University joining the IIOE global partnership network. This collaboration is expected to further advance joint innovation in higher‑education internationalization and digital transformation, contributing valuable Chinese experience and practical cases to the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).


About Xi'an Peihua University

Xi'an Peihua University is a full‑time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education of China. With nearly 100 years of history, it is the first private university in Western China authorized to grant bachelor's degrees. The university comprises 14 secondary schools and has over 23,000 students. It has established an application‑oriented talent development system emphasizing solid foundations, strong technical skills, high competencies, and well‑rounded qualities. Twenty of its programmes have been rated as six‑star application‑oriented majors by the China Alumni Association.
