On the afternoon of May 23, 2026, the Low-Altitude Economy International Forum, part of the 2026 Drone World Congress, was successfully held at Peking University Science and Technology Park in Shenzhen. The forum brought together over 200 experts, enterprise leaders, and university representatives from the global low-altitude economy sector, with more than 15,000 participants joining online. Mr. YANG Jincai, President of the Drone World Congress and President of the Shenzhen UAV Industry Association and Mr. DENG Zhongming, President of PKU Sci-Tech Park and Dean of the Institute of Industrial Technology, and other experts in the field attended the forum. The International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) was invited to attend as a guiding unit.
Mr. CAO Zi’an, Chief of the IIOE Management Centre, pointed out that the sustainable development of the low-altitude economy hinges on cultivating local interdisciplinary talents who are able to understand technology, apply technology, and govern technology responsibly. Especially in the Global South, low-altitude technologies have the potential to significantly improve public services and promote youth employment. He stated that UNESCO-ICHEI will leverage the IIOE platform to jointly develop the "AI + Low-Altitude Economy" micro-certification programmes and competency standards with partners including Dianyong Low-Altitude, effectively bridging China’s practical experience with the industry-education development needs of the Global South.

During the forum, several important events took place, including iLATA (International Low-attitude Technology and Application) English Certification Training Launch Ceremony, new book launch of iLATA textbook Introduction to Low-Altitude Technology and Low-Altitude Economy and iLATA Human Resources Expert Committee Launch Ceremony. Experts delivered keynote speeches on topics such as low-altitude economy globalization strategies, smart agriculture, unmanned system platforms. A roundtable dialogue was also held under the theme “Go-Global Strategies for Low-Altitude Economy Enterprises and International Talent Development”.

The forum was jointly organized by the Shenzhen UAV Industry Association, PKU Sci-Tech Park, and Shenzhen Dianyong Industrial Internet Research Institute, with UNESCO-ICHEI serving as a guiding unit. This participation not only deepened UNESCO-ICHEI’s dialogue with the low‑altitude economy industry but also opened new avenues for industry talent capacity building for the Global South.
