MOU signed between ICHEI and the Brazilian Mathematical Society

On 12 May 2026, UNESCO-ICHEI officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Brazilian Mathematical Society. Mr. XU Mingshun, Chief of the Administrative Affairs Office of UNESCO-ICHEI, and Mr. YANG Shangyi, Programme Officer of the Global Partnership and Programme Office, visited the Brazilian Mathematical Society and attended the signing ceremony together with Prof. Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita, President of the Society.

As one of the most influential academic organizations in the field of mathematics in Brazil, the Brazilian Mathematical Society has a strong foundation in mathematics education research and teacher professional development. Both parties agreed that, in the context of rapid digitalization and the fast-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, education in fundamental disciplines such as mathematics is undergoing a profound transformation. The two sides will focus on the following areas of practical collaboration: Promoting the digital transformation of mathematics education; Advancing AI‑empowered talent development in fundamental disciplines; Strengthening teacher professional capacity-building; Co-developing and sharing open educational resources.

A delegation from UNESCO-ICHEI visited the Brazilian Mathematical Society


Brazil is an important hub for higher education and research innovation in Latin America. This cooperation with the Brazilian Mathematical Society will help UNESCO-ICHEI further expand its higher education partnership network in the region and build an efficient and practical collaboration platform for universities, research institutions, and professional academic organizations, jointly advancing the implementation of future-oriented higher education innovation initiatives.
