On October 27, 2018, the UNESCO delegation headed by Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko, Assistant Director-General for Africa Department of UNESCO visited ICHEI and both sides had a meeting to discuss future cooperation issues.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Africa, Mr. Du Yue, Director of Division for Cooperation, Intersectoral Follow-Up and Partnership of Africa Department, UNESCO and Mr. Mohamed Djelid, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Strategic Planning of UNESCO. Professor LI Ming, Director of ICHEI, and ICHEI staff joined the meeting.

Meeting participants

Professor LI Ming introduced the work and achievements that ICHEI have achieved in Africa. Mr. Matoko fully acknowledged ICHEI's endeavour in promoting higher education innovation in African countries, and expressed the willingness of UNESCO Headquarters to conduct more active cooperation with ICHEI in the field of higher education. Matoko introduced that UNESCO has strong network of African universities, as well as the network of UNESCO regional offices and national offices in Africa, which will effectively facilitate ICHEI's work in Africa.

Professor LI Ming responded that ICHEI was very happy to work more closely with UNESCO Headquarters and would like to build a platform for cooperation among UNESCO Headquarters, ICHEI and Chinese enterprises. Besides, the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual cooperation mechanism and personnel exchanges. After the meeting, Mr. Matoko wrote an inscription for ICHEI which commended ICHEI's work.
