The higher education landscape in South Asia is undergoing profound transformation, driven by the rapid integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). This shift has unlocked unprecedented opportunities for higher education leaders andprofessionals to innovate and adapt to the evolving demands of the AI era. Since 2024, the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) has been developing regional policy dialogue mechanisms in synergy with various partners. On May 20, 2026, UNESCO-ICHEI, in collaboration with the UNESCO Kathmandu Office, Tribhuvan University, and the Asian Development Bank, will jointly host the "Leadership Policy Dialogue in South Asia: Charting Responsible and Innovative AI Integration in Higher Education." This dialogue aims to advance the integration of AI within higher education across the South Asian region.
