Artificial intelligence (AI) in education holds great potential for advancing the SDG 4 goal - inclusive and equitable quality education for all, as highlighted in UNESCO's report AI and education: guidance for policy-maker. However, several challenges, including data ethics and impacts on teachers and learners, might hinder AI's potential for quality education, which call for policy debates and regulatory frameworks that can adapt to changes. Therefore, a critical question arises: How can policymakers leverage the opportunities of AI in higher education while mitigating its risks in the AI era?

To address this challenge, IIOE is hosting a webinar "Global Models of AI Policy in Higher Education", delivered by Dr. Xin BI, on October 23. By reviewing and comparing the global practices of AI regulations, this session will introduce a practical framework and case studies on AI policymaking for educators and institutions.
