UNESCO-ICHEI located in Shenzhen, China, was approved on Novemeber 13, 2015 by the 38th Genernal Conference of UNESCO. It is the tenth Education Sector UNESCO Category 2 centre in the world and aslo the first Category 2 centre for higher education in China.
This newsletter aims to disseminate new thinking, ideas,technology and methods of ICTs in higher education. It covers a wide range of topics such as heated issues, policies, cases in practice, and international projects in relation to online education, mobile learning, distant education, MOOC, OER, etc. It also provides updates on UNESCO-ICHEI, including projects, meetings and conferences, activities, and communication.
Thirty-two government officials of departmental and divisional levels in higher education systems, university senior officials and professors from 7 African countries, i.e., Ethiopia, Egypt, Djibouti, Ghana, Malawi, Cameroon and Botswana, participated in the seminar and studied theories and practices of ICT application in higher education.
The Centre for Higher Education Research of Southern University of Science and Technology hosted the Seminar on ICT in Higher Education Innovation for Asian Countries 2017 which provided ICT capacity training for officials, technicians, academics in four Asian countries.
ISSUE 6 focuses on reporting Mobile Learning area case studies which include Global Themes, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Next issue will continue to report Europe, Latin America, and North America.
ISSUE 5 focuses on reporting Regional Conference on Quality Assurance of Higher Education in Asia-Pacific and the Inaugural Meeting of the International Advisory Committee of UNESCO-ICHEI.
ISSUE 4 focused on reporting Mobile Learning related policy reports and Mobile Learning Week. This issue also reported UNESCO-ICHEI’s recent activities.
During June 15th-16th 2017, Regional Conference on Quality Assurance of Higher Education in Asia-Pacific was held in Shenzhen. This conference was jointly organized by the Section of Higher Education, UNESCO in Paris, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, in collaboration with the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, and hosted by ICHEI.
