On the morning of June 8, 2016, the Unveiling Ceremony of International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (ICHEI-SHENZHEN) under the Auspices of UNESCO was held in Wuzhou Guest House, Shenzhen.
On June 7, 2016, International Meeting on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education was inaugurated at Kylin Villa in Shenzhen. The meeting was co-hosted by UNESCO, SUSTech and the People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality as well as other organizations. Experts from UNESCO, institutes of higher learning, research institutions, government departments and enterprises along with participants from all walks of life gathered to discuss innovation and entrepreneurship education.
The establishment of the International Centre of Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHEI) in Shenzhen, China was approved by the Thirty-eighth General Conference of UNESCO held on November 7, 2015. It was a break-through for higher education development in Shenzhen and provided a wide stage for the international teaching of our university.
From December 21st to 23rd, 2015, Party Secretary of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and UNESCO Category II Project team leader, Professor LI Ming, attended the 30th Plenary Meeting of National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO.
On August 19, 2015, ICHEI’s project team visited the International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) in Beijing.
On August 6, 2015, Francois met the Project Team in Shenzhen. His presentation and interaction with students brainstormed the issue that higher education, teaching and learning need to be organized differently and realized now. The co-presenter on that day was Dr. Xu Luping, one of the programme Open FIESTA initiators from Tsinghua University, Shenzhen.
On June 10, 2015, Curtis J.Bonk, an internationally renowned expert in the field of emerging learning technologies and Professor at the Department of Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University accepted an offer to come to SUSTech and give a lecture.
On the afternoon of May 23, 2015, the Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, WU Yihuan, and the UNESCO Assistant Secretary General for Education, TANG Qian, signed the Funds-in-Trust Framework Agreement on behalf of both parties, which was witnessed by the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, HAO Ping.
On May 2, 2015, the “International Higher Education Innovation High-end Consultation and Discussion Meeting” was held in Shenzhen. This meeting was jointly held by the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the National Commission of The People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, and hosted by the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
