ICHEI Attended HUAWEI ICT Competition Middle East 2018 Award Ceremony

In the afternoon of November, 25th, 2018, Prof. HAN Wei, Deputy Director of ICHEI, attended HUAWEI ICT Competition Middle East 2018 Award Ceremony and the China-Middle East Dialogue on ICT Education.

Prof. HAN gave a keynote presentation on the topic of “Industry-university Partnership as a Key to Drive Talent Development” and highlighted the importance of ICT application in supporting developing countries to improve the quality of education and promote educational equality. She shared two good practices to show what SUSTech, ICHEI and HUAWEI have done so far for enhancing industry-university cooperation. By establishing SUSTech-HUAWEI Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA) and co-hosting HUAWEI ICT Competition 2017 Award Ceremony, ICHEI hoped to increase the influence of ICT application and encourage the development of ICT talents. Prof. HAN added that, in the future, ICHEI would continuously cooperate with SUSTech and HUAWEI to employ ICT in improving the industry-university-research development.

Six Middle East countries ambassadors to China, Ms. TANG Yun, Director of Division of Major Projects, China Centre for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education of China, as well as Prof. HAN attended the panel discussion on the topic of “ICT Talent Ecosystem, a key driver of digitalization, socioeconomic development & achieving national plans and visions”. As a UNESCO Category 2 institute, ICHEI believes that the promotion of ICT capacity building is a key means to establish ICT Talent Ecosystem. Particularly, the Smart Classroom Project and Digital Education Link Programme are two good practices done by ICHEI in applying ICT knowledge to expand educational opportunities and improve educational quality.

Six Middle East countries ambassadors to China, officials from the Chinese Ministry of Education, officials from ICHEI, staff from HUAWEI and 52 students and teachers in 13 teams from 10 countries in the Middle East attended this summit and award ceremony.
