During May 30-June 2, 2018, the delegation of ICHEI visited Myanmar, where they had several meetings with the Ministry of Higher Education, University of Yangon, Yangon Technology University and UNESCO Yangon Project Office. Representative from Guanghou Createview Optoelectronics Technology also attended the events.

At the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. LI Ming was greeted by Dr. Thein Win, the Minister of Higher Education and Dr. Po Kaung, the Rector of University of Yangon(YU). They held discussions on the challenges and opportunities higher education in Myanmar is faced with in the new era. The Minister welcomed and thought very highly of the close academic exchange in higher education between China and Myanmar.  He believed that the generous international student recruitment programs offered by SUSTech would allow more brilliant students in the country to study more systematically, which would ultimately contribute to the future development of Myanmar. The rector also expressed his wishes to collaborate with SUSTech on capacity building, academic exchange and talent cultivation.

In addition, the delegation was suggested by the Minister to pay a visit to Yangon Technology University(YTU). Formally as the school of engineering under University of Yangon, YTU has taken up the responsibility to educate, train and cultivate talents in the fields of science and engineering for the country.

At UNESCO Yangon Project Office, the delegation interacted and exchanged with Ms. Min Jeong Kim, the director of the office and Mr. Anthony Tam, ICT in Education Specialist, whom shared at length about the work conducted by UNESCO in Myanmar.
