ICHEI Participated in the 3rd Forum on China-Africa Local Government CooperationMay 9, 2018
Hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and organized by the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association, the 3rd Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation was held on May 7-8, 2018 in Beijing. The theme of the Forum is poverty alleviation and sustainable development. There are altogether about 400 participants from around 30 African countries and related departments and enterprises in China. Mr WANG Qishan, Deputy President of People’s Republic of China attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Brigi Rafini, Prime Minister of Niger and former Prime Minister of Tanzania delivered speeches respectively.
ICHEI was invited to participate in the Forum. Professor LI Ming, Director of ICHEI had a meeting with South African Delegation, both sides carried out fruitful discussion on topics of higher education and especially ICT application in higher education, which laid a foundation for higher education cooperation in the future.
The Forum on China-African Local Government Cooperation (CALGC) was launched by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in 2012 and has been held once every three years. It was taken into the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2015. By now, the CALGC Forum has become a major platform for pooling insights from non-governmental sectors in China and African countries and promoting practical cooperation between China and the continent.
