ICHEI delegation visited Institute for African Studies of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On March 22, UNESCO-ICHEI delegation visited Guangdong Institute for International Studies (GIIS) and Institute for African Studies of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Both sides exchanged views on future cooperation.

Professor LIU Jisen, Vice Secretary General of Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, Executive Vice President of Institute for African Studies, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, gave an introduction to the research and future planning of the Institute. Both sides conducted in-depth communication on issues of common concern, such as African countries’ vocational and technical education, Chinese enterprises’localized staff training in African countries, joint research, industry-university collaboration and organization of training seminars, and reached a preliminary consensus on these issues.

With the approval of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Institute for International Strategies (GIIS) was established on November, 2009. GIIS is a research consultancy institute with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) as its functional base. GIISis one of the key units for cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and one of the presidencies of the “Belt and Road” Think Tank Association. Focusing on the international strategy issues of “China participating in global economic governance”, “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, etc. The Institute has made impressive achievements in science research, decision-making consultation, high-level international personnel training and international cooperation.

The Institute for African Studies of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was established on November 22nd, 2016, and was unveiled by former State Councilor Mr. Dai Bingguo. The institute consists of the following facilities: Research Center on Investment and Trade with Africa, Global Marketing and Research Center for Chinese Culture, “The Belt and Road” Business Talents Training Center and “The Belt and Road” Talents of Chinese Medicine Training Center.
