ICHEI Participated in 2017 Transforming Education Conference for Humanity Held in IndiaDecember 19, 2017
From December 16 to 18, 2017, Mr. LI Ming, Director, Mr. ZHAO Jianhua, Senior Specialist, of UNESCO-ICHEI, joined by Mr. WANG Duanrui, CEO of Weidong Cloud Education Group, participated in the 2017 Transforming Education Conference for Humanity (TECH) held in Visakhapatnam, India.
TECH 2017 was held by UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainability (MGIEP), with a theme of promoting digital education to advance the construction of a peaceful and sustainable society. This conference is a grand gathering of unprecedented scale, attracting more than 1700 scholars, experts, education ministers, high-level policy makers, entrepreneurs (especially game-based learning software developers), education technology providers, education psychologists, etc. The delegation held fruitful talks with participants from different backgrounds.
During the conference, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) and ICHEI co-hosted a forum on “Dialogue between Educators and Entrepreneurs on ICT-enabled Educational Transformation: Innovation and Responsibility”. Professor LI Ming, Professor ZHAO Jianhua and Mr. WANG Duanrui all delivered keynote speeches. This forum themed on the role of ICT in higher education innovation and the role of entrepreneurs in the process. Participants discussed how to promote innovative development in higher education, the development in ICT and its innovative role, etc.
During the tea break, the delegation held an informal meeting with Dr. Anantha Kumar Duraiappah, Director of MGIEP. Dr. Duraiappah extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed thanks to ICHEI for its support for TECH 2017. Director LI Ming said, “both MGIEP and ICHEI are UNESCO institutes and centres; therefore, it’s natural for our two institutes to enhance exchange and cooperation and increase bilateral visits, in an effort to discuss and research in the fields of education technology and innovation and to contribute more to achieving the Education 2030 Goals”. Director LI extended an invitation to Director Anantha Duraiappah to visit ICHEI in Shenzhen and participate in the Asia-Pacific MOOC Conference. He also expressed his hope to see more and deeper cooperation between ICHEI and MGIEP in the near future.
