Memorandum of Understanding Signed between ICHEI and Cambodia Development Resource Institute

From March 19 to 23, 2017, the Delegation of Cambodia Development Resource Institute(CDRI) visited International Centre for Higher Education Innovation(ICHEI). Director of ICHEI, Prof. LI Ming, and Director of CDRI, Dr. Chhem Rethy, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of both parties.

According to the agreement, both parties will improve the development of Cambodia higher education through the following fields/aspects of cooperation: a) Strengthening the continuous improvement of the ICT-enhanced higher education system for Cambodia,  making joint efforts to enhance the accessibility to higher education at the national level, and improving the higher education quality; b) Carrying out policy and action research to explore the potential of ICTs in Cambodia higher education system, and improving  capacity of STEM lecturers and professors; c)Promoting implementation and operation of ICHEI’s programmes in Cambodia , through expertise support, joint activities, information sharing from CDRI. Together, this will enhance cooperation networks and publications.

The latest Cambodian higher education strategy plan focuses on boosting the local graduation rates of degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to help the country meet demands of its industrial development policy. Based on Cambodia’s National strategy plan, ICHEI designed and conducted the Cambodia programme which focused on the ICTs Capacity Building of Higher Education Institutions in September 2016 for Royal University of Phnom Penh(RUPP) Since then, ICHEI has kept close relationship with RUPP and will cooperate to improve the development of Cambodia higher education.

CDRI is a leading independent development policy research institute in Cambodia that provides policy recommendations to Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), with wide-ranging expertise and practical experiences in higher education. The cooperation between the two parties set a good foundation for ICHEI’s programme in Cambodia, and promote the deep communication and cooperation in culture, education, and industry areas.
